I’m sure you already know about peak travel times – like Xmas, Easter, school holidays or the “Dry season” in the northern part of Australia, when everyone is planning to get away, but there are always quieter times when holiday parks (and flights) are much less expensive.
However, sometimes there may be reasons that a destination is considered “quiet”—like, the “wet season” in Darwin where it does get a little hot, humid and rainy (but no different to Bali). However on the flip side to this, this can also be one of the best times to visit if you would like to see spectacular storms and amazing waterfalls thundering at their best. Another cost effective option is to travel during “shoulder seasons,” which is between the two. “Travel seasons” are determined by a number of factors including the school year, however sometimes it’s worth taking the kids out of school for a week for a new experience. Each region has different seasons, but if you know how to work around them, you’re more likely to find great deals.

Family Friendly4. STAY AT FAMILY FRIENDLY HOLIDAY PARKS
Generally you will find an abundance of facilities or the rooms are more conducive to families. Search for the holiday park that has the most features to best suit your needs. Generally they will be more affordable and you get a lot more space, which makes traveling with kids more bearable. Also look for extra services for kids like activities, games rooms etc. Fee-free facilities can help you save money, so always consider what’s offered for guests before you decide to book.

5. ASK THE HOLIDAY PARK STAFF FOR THE INSIDE SCOOP
As soon as you get to your holiday park, ask the reception team if any upgrades are available, especially if you travel with kids. If you can go from an open plan cabin to a two or three-bedroom cabin, with kids that’s fantastic – think of that extra room. However to make your experience the best that it can be in the destination you are visiting – always ask for information on places that do discounts for families at restaurants, places where kids might eat free, etc.

One of the biggest expenses while travelling is food costs, but you can save serious cash by hitting up the grocery store for snacks and breakfast options. “If you’re renting a car and you have the capability to go to a local supermarket and stock up on snacks. Dependant on the facilities in your cabin, will dictate what grocery items you can and cannot purchase. Packing a water bottle for the day for example, can save on paying approx. $3-$5 each. If you have kids, its always a good idea to cook some meals in so you are not out every night.
