Warm, wonderful weather – so why are guests departing early?

We are confused? The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the weather is still beautiful up here, so it is making us wonder why our guests seem to be leaving earlier than previous years and not wishing to take advantage of our fantastic climate. For example – look at our weather for today, compared to the weather on the Gold Coast – we certainly know where we’d rather be. 🙂 What about you? There’s still so much to do in Darwin this dry season, so if you’re looking for a Darwin Caravan Park to base yourself while you explore this amazing area – then look no further – Hidden Valley Tourist Park is ready and waiting for you..

2014 Certificate of Excellence Winner

We were notified by Trip Advisor recently with the news that we had been awarded a Certificate of Excellence Award for 2014! Yay to us! What is a Certificate of Excellence award? The Certificate of Excellence award honours hospitality businesses that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor. Properties that are awarded the Certificate of Excellence demonstrate hospitality excellence and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site. How are Certificate of Excellence recipients determined? Trip Advisor use a proprietary algorithm that factors in a variety of user-generated content. This includes review ratings, overall rating and quantity, and recency of reviews. To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, a hospitality business must: • Maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of five • Have a minimum number of reviews • Have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least twelve months A property’s popularity ranking on TripAdvisor is also factored into the algorithm. Comment from Trip Advisor: “These outstanding accommodations, vacation rentals, attractions and restaurants from around the world are being honoured because they consistently impress travellers. In fact, the Certificate of Excellence is a real source of pride for hospitality professionals because it’s all determined by traveller reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor”. At Hidden Valley Tourist Park, we try very hard to ensure all our guests receive an exceptional level of customer service during their time with us, and we are most appreciative of our award and for our past guests, who have taken the time to share their experiences on Trip Advisor with other travellers.

Bombing of Darwin Tours

Did you know that more bombs were dropped on Darwin than there was on Pearl Harbour in the USA? It was the first and  largest single attack ever mounted by a foreign power on Australia. On the 19th February 1942, 242 Japanese aircraft attacked ships in Darwin’s harbour and the town’s two airfields in an attempt to prevent the Allies (countries seeking to stop Germany, Italy and the Japanese) from using them as bases.  Darwin was only lightly defended and the Japanese inflicted heavy losses at little cost to themselves. This half day tour is packed with information, on-site visits, and memorabilia of little known historical events of WWII in Darwin. Garry gives an attention-keeping and very informative tour with passionate upbeat commentary. A must do tour whilst in Darwin! For more information on Garry’s tour, please visit the website or contact us here and we can happily provide further information and book your tour for you!
